Disabled Ex-Servicemen: Ex-Servicemen while serving in the armed forces were disabled are treated as Disabled Ex-Servicemen.

Dependent on Servicemen Killed in Action(DXS): Servicemen who are killed in the following operations like War/Border operations/Serving with peacekeeping machines abroad etc. For the purpose of concession of reservation for the dependents on servicemen would include wise, son, daughter, etc.

IBPS Clerk Eligibility - Educational Qualification

  • Candidates must have a graduate degree in any discipline from a University recognized by the Government of India.
  • Candidates should certainly have sufficient computer efficiency with a diploma course or degree in this affair.
  • Candidates must know how to speak, read and write the language of the particular state that they are applying for.
  • Ex-Servicemen lacking these criteria should be matriculate and have achieved an Army Special certificate or equivalent Education or Navy/Air force certificate, not less than 15 years of service in the Union of Armed Forces as of 21.07.2022.
  • Candidates have prior knowledge about the Calculation of Percentage as follows: The percentage marks shall be arrived at by dividing the total marks obtained by the candidate in all the subjects in all semester(s)/year(s) by aggregate maximum marks multiplied by 100. The fraction of percentage calculated will be ignored i.e. 59.99% will be treated as less than 60% and 54.99% will be treated as less than 55%.

Computer Literacy/Knowledge

  • Computer Literacy: Aspirants must have enough knowledge of Computer Systems. They must have a valid certificate/degree/diploma in Computer Operations or Information Technology.
  • Candidates must be well versed with the operating and working knowledge of computer systems.

IBPS Clerk Eligibility - Nationality

To fulfill the IBPS clerk eligibility for the recruitment, the aspirants need to fulfil the below-mentioned nationality requirements.

The candidates need to be an:

  • An Indian citizen or,
  • A subject of Bhutan or Nepal or,
  • A Tibetan refugee who migrated to India before 1st January 1962 to settle in the country permanently or,
  • An Indian person who has come over from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Burma, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Ethiopia, Zaire, or Vietnam to settle in India on a permanent note.
  • The point to note is, the Indian Government must issue the particular candidate with an eligibility certificate.

IBPS Clerk Eligibility - Reservation for PwD

Section 34 i.e. “The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016” affirms that persons having physical infirmities are worthy of Reservation. Below mentioned are the reserved categories of disabilities for this act.

  • Blindness and low vision,
  • Deaf and hard of hearing,
  • Locomotor issues include cerebral palsy, acid attack victims, leprosy cured, muscular dystrophy, and dwarfism.
  • Autism, specific learning disability, intellectual disability, and mental illness.
  • Multiple disabilities from amid persons under clause (a) to (d) involving deaf-blindness in the posts recognized for each disability.

IBPS Clerk Eligibility-OC Category

A person’s inability to execute distinctive activities associated with the movement of self and object resulting from affliction of the musculoskeletal or nervous system or both, including Cerebral Palsy, Leprosy Cured, Dwarfism, Muscular Dystrophy, and Acid Attack Victims. Orthopedically challenged persons are covered under locomotor disability with the following benchmark:

  • OA - One arm affected (Right or Left)
  • OL - One leg affected (Right or Left)
  • OAL - One arm and One leg affected
  • BL - Both legs affected but not arms


Persons with OA and OAL category should have normal bilateral hand functions. ”Leprosy cured person” means a person who has been cured of leprosy but is suffering from:

  • Loss of sensation in hands or feet as well as the loss of sensation and persistence in the eye and eye-lid but with no manifest deformity.
  • Obvious deformity and paresis but has sufficient mobility in their hands and feet to enable them to engage in normal economic activity
  • Extreme physical deformity as well as advanced age which prevents him/her from undertaking any gainful occupation and the expression “leprosy cured” shall be construed accordingly.

“Cerebral Palsy” means a group of non-progressive neurological conditions affecting body movements and muscle coordination, caused by damage to one or more specific areas of the brain, usually occurring before, during, or shortly after birth; “Dwarfism” means a medical or genetic condition resulting in an adult height of 4 feet 10 inches (147 centimeters) or less; “Acid Attack Victims” means a person disfigured due to violent assaults by throwing of acid or similar corrosive substance.

Visual Impairment ('VI'Category)

Only the Visually Impaired (VI) persons who suffer from any one of the following conditions, after best correction, are eligible to apply.


  • Complete absence of sight; OR
  • Visual acuity less than 3/60 or less than 10/200 (Snellen) in the better eye with best possible correction,
  • Limitation of the field of vision subtending an angle of fewer than 10 degrees.
  • Low Vision,
  • Visual acuity less than 3/60 or less than 10/200 (Snellen) in the better eye with best possible corrections,
  • Limitation of the field of vision subtending an angle of fewer than 40 degrees up to 10 degrees.

Hearing Impaired ('HI'Category)

  • Deaf: means a person having 70 DB hearing loss in speech frequencies in both ears.
  • Hard of Hearing: This means a person having 60 DB to 70 DB hearing loss in speech frequencies in both ears.

IBPS Clerk Eligibility - 'ID'Category

Only those persons, who suffer from any one of the following types of disabilities, are eligible to apply under this category:

Intellectual Disability:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) means a neuro-developmental condition typically appearing in the first three years of life that significantly affects a person’s ability to communicate, understand relationships, and relate to others, and is frequently associated with unusual stereotypical rituals or behaviors.
  • Specific Learning Disability (SLD) means a heterogeneous group of conditions wherein there is a deficit in processing language, spoken or written, that may manifest itself as a difficulty to comprehend, speak, read, write, spell, or do mathematical calculations and includes such conditions as perceptual disabilities, dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, dyspraxia, and developmental aphasia.
  • Mental Illness (MI) means a substantial disorder of thinking, mood, perception, orientation, or memory that grossly impairs judgment, behavior, capacity to recognize reality, or ability to meet the ordinary demands of life, but does not include retardation which is a condition of arrested or incomplete development of mind of a person especially characterized by subnormality of intelligence. IBPS Clerk Eligibility -Guidelines for Persons With Disabilities using a Scribe

(i) Following are the Guidelines for Persons With Disabilities using a Scribe-

The visually impaired candidateswhose writing speed is adversely affected permanently for any medical reason can use their own scribe at their cost during the online examination. In all such cases where a scribe is used, the following rules will apply:

(ii) Guidelines for candidates with locomotor disability and cerebral palsy

  • Compensatory time of twenty minutes per hour or otherwise advised shall be permitted for the candidates with locomotor disability and cerebral palsy where dominant (writing) extremity is affected to the extent of slowing the performance of function (minimum of 40% impairment).

(iii) Guidelines for Visually Impaired Candidates

  • Visually Impaired candidates (who suffer from not less than 40% of disability) may opt to view the contents of the test in magnified font and all such candidates will be eligible for compensatory time of 20 minutes for every hour or otherwise advised of examination.

  • The facility of viewing the contents of the test in magnifying font will not be available to Visually Impaired candidates who use the services of a Scribe for the examination.

These guidelines are subject to change in terms of GOI guidelines/ clarifications, if any, from time to time.

IBPS Clerk Eligibility Criteria- Important Points

  • Candidates must produce the relevant documents in original and photocopy in support of their identity and eligibility -pertaining to category, nationality, age, educational qualifications, etc.
  • Candidates, under any circumstance, can't change the category after the registration is successful.
  • Candidates might be shortlisted in the preliminary examination, owing to their merit. It doesn't confirm their employment. They need to get through the entire process and cross the barriers step by step.
